Helping Others
This year we are supporting the SOAR Network. The SOAR (Supporting
Others in Autism Recover) Network is a small newly formed foundation dedicated to helping families in Rutherford and Cleveland
Counties. SOAR works with other Autism foundations in other areas to get families the support they need.
Support can be emotional, monetary, educational or any other way that helps releive the stresses brought on in the day
to day dealings with autistic children.
SOAR offers support to families with autistic children in the following ways:
1. Helping to pay for medical treatments or therapies
2. Helping to pay for medications
3. Helping to pay for special child care
4. Offering emotional support, at meetings, on line, or by phone.
5. Providing educational resources
6. Helping to pay for special equipment needed.
Recently a Rutherford County family with an autistic child purchased a hyperbaric
chamber with a partial grant from SOAR. This chamber is available for use by any child with a prescription from their
doctor
We as a group are not here to debate the issues of autism. There
are many; diagnosis, treatment, causes, etc. After getting involved with creating the fund raiser, we have learned that
almost everyone knows someone tht has been touched by autism.
We just want to offer some form of help. A shooting match that
allows our friends and fellow shooters the opportunity to get together and support a good cause seemed the way to go.
Saturday's success says we made a good choice.
